More than 70 people were injured in Saudi Arabia in attacks carried out by the Ansar Allah group, according to BBC reporting published on Monday, 7 September 2026.

The strikes prompted an urgent warning in Khamis Mushait, where authorities called on residents to move to safe locations, according to the Saudi newspaper Sabeq. Early warning alerts were also activated in Abha and Khamis Mushait to flag the danger, the Riyadh daily reported. A further outlet, Al-Siyasa, carried the same account of the alerts being sounded in the two cities.

Saudi civil defence later announced that the danger had passed in both Khamis Mushait and Abha, the outlet Ajil reported. It also issued guidance on the steps people should follow in the event of a threat.

The reports place the affected areas in the country's southwest, where Abha and Khamis Mushait are located. The material available does not specify the type of weapons used, the exact timing of the attacks, or the condition of those injured. It also does not say whether any deaths were reported.

Details on the extent of the damage and the identities of those hurt have not been provided in the reporting reviewed so far.

What to watch next: whether Saudi authorities release casualty figures, confirm the number of sites hit, or issue a formal response to the attacks.
